A grand opening will be held this Saturday, Feb. 8 for one of the 12-plex apartment buildings located at 1401 South Front Street in Moosomin.

As part of the grand opening, an open house will be held from 10 am to 2 pm that day so that people can come and view the new apartments in the finished building.

The apartments were built by Premier Builder Group out of Brandon. This is their second project in Moosomin, as the company also built the Anytime Fitness building. Evan Keller of Premier Builder Group says he’s confident the new apartments will be a good fit for Moosomin.

“We built something that we are pretty familiar with that we have built in other markets,” he says. “They are 12-plex buildings that are three storeys. They are a nice setup where you only have three neighbors on each floor.

They are three bedroom, two-bath units. They all have great features like stainless steel appliances and on trend flooring and cabinetry.

“We’ve got a few pre-rented already and we have a few caretakers lined up to look after the buildings. Each suite is an identical 1,000 square feet, with spacious master bedrooms complete with ensuites and walkthrough closets. That’s kind of one of the nicer things.”

Keller says their company has been looking at building in Moosomin for some time.

“Moosomin has been on our radar ever since I worked for RBC in the area years ago. Therefore, I was kind of familiar with the community,” he says.
“We’ve had groups like the Community Builders Alliance and different business groups in the community reach out. They actually stopped in and saw us in Brandon with recommendations to take a serious look at Moosomin. When the property became available, all the pieces came together. We’d like to thank the community members that reached out to us and pushed us to take a hard look at it.

“The process has been awesome. The town has been awesome from day one of talking to them to having them support the project. The town looked after some of the infrastructure, and the permitting and inspection process was easy. Overall, it’s so nice to deal with a smaller community where you can talk to people directly and collaborate.”

Keller says they welcome the public to come out and see the new building on Saturday.

“We are going to have an open house for anyone in the community who wants to come check it out and walk through the building. It’s just an opportunity to show our work and hopefully spread the word to potential tenants. We just really want to make sure the community knows we are open for business. We will have some staff out there hosting, touring people through, and taking rental applications. If there are people who want to apply, we can do it on the spot.

“It’s exciting. We’re excited to get settled in. We’ve got an office space now for our construction company in Broadway Commons on Main Street. We are planning to have a larger presence in the community. We’re always looking for the next opportunity, whether it’s rental real estate or custom homes.
“We really like the town and are excited to see what’s going on in the area.”
