David Moffatt will return as reeve of the RM of Moosomin after being challenged by Mark McCorriston, who previously held the Division 4 seat. He was pleased to see the voter turnout in the rural municipality, and was happy that people had the chance to have their voices heard.

“It was a great turnout,” Moffatt said. “I feel one of the bigger turnouts we’ve had in the past, even from other years. It was a great day for people to get out and express their opinions.”

He says he would have preferred to speak with more people around the RM of Moosomin prior to the election.

“I didn’t get around to everybody in the RM due to the time restrictions, and I wish I had, because I definitely had my eyes opened up a bit,” Moffatt said. “There are concerns out there, and I feel we need to work on them as we move forward into the future.”

He was appreciative of those who turned out to cast a ballot, restating the importance of municipal government.

“I’d like to thank everybody for voting and coming out to vote,” Moffatt said. “We’re here for the ratepayers to serve and help them.”

The RM also saw Sean McTavish elected to Division 1 and Herb Doll remain as Division 3 councillor. Divisions 5 and 7 saw returning councillors Dale McAuley and Vern Hamilton respectively return by acclamation.
