It is with great sadness that the family of Bruno Wushke, announces his passing on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born September 22, 1941, near Meeting Lake, Sask., Bruno lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a deep love for family and friends.
In 1966 Bruno married Betty Skoyen and they started their life together on the farm near Wapella. They formed a partnership that lasted over three decades. Although they separated in 1998, they shared the joy of raising their two daughters, Cheryl and Gale. The girls remember their father as a hard working, gentle man who was very supportive and caring.
He would try anything, even though it didn’t always end well… he took a fast ride on the pony and ended up in the dirt, he tackled water skiing, much to our entertainment, and had a wreck on a bicycle while attempting to keep up to the girls. He was always up for an adventure and could often be spotted driving around looking for someone that he could visit with or that might want to join him.
Bruno loved life on the farm, and through the years, took great pride in his cattle herd, as well as his crops, although he was certain that the neighbors always got more rain. He had a profound connection with the land that lasted throughout his lifetime. As well as farming, Bruno worked at a variety of jobs through the years such as welder’s helper, the potash mines, road construction and in the later years, the RM of Martin and Willowdale.
Bruno made friends easily wherever he went and those fortunate enough to meet him often found an instant friend in him. His happy personality drew people in and ensured that any gathering was filled with laughter and fun.
He had cherished friendships with people of all ages. Bruno was very grateful for his many great neighbors and friends that were always willing to lend a hand when he needed help.
Bruno recently moved off the farm, into Moosomin where he continued to enjoy spending time with his family, friends and neighbours. The effortless connections Bruno made will be long remembered by those who mourn his passing.
Bruno is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Kim) and Gale (Keith); grandchildren, Jeremy, Alisa, Cam, Duncan, Bryn and Luke; sisters Gertie, Hertha, Rita (Terry); brothers Edwin (Audrey), Arthur (Diane), Armin (Camille); wife Betty (separated); brother- and sisters-in-law, Vic and Bev, Gordon and Marg, Val and Wes, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Emily and Adolf Wushke, his brothers Eric, Willie, Albert, and sisters Alma and Sylvia.
Cremation is entrusted to Mourning Glory Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel, Saskatoon. Condolences and words of remembrance for the family can be left at www.acadiamckaguesfuneralcentre.com
A celebration of Bruno’s life will be held in the spring, with the date to be announced.
Donations or gifts in Bruno’s name, can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Wapella Cemetery or Park. Please contact the town office at townofwapella@sasktel.net
