Lyndon Dayman lives on his family’s homestead south of Windthorst, and is running under the Future Party banner in Souris-Moose Mountain—one of six candidates vying for the MP position.

Dayman is a familiar name to Conservatives in the riding as he has a long history with that party, but says he’s unhappy with the party which is why he decided to run for the Future Party.

“I’m a big believer in the grassroots, and the Conservative Party abandoned the grassroots in this riding . . . I came across the Canadian Future Party, and they’re promising to be grassroots.

“They were not even set up yet, we were just getting ready to call an AGM and start forming an EDA here when they called the election, so we’re not even properly set up yet,” Dayman explained. “We’re a new party, and there’s no mistakes in us yet. After the election, there’s going to be a big push to form a board, and the principle of the party is that each EDA is kind of autonomous; not 100 per cent, but we’re to form a board and committees, and those folks are going to determine what this EDA is going to fight for, promote, and work on. That fits my thinking perfectly.”

Dayman describes the Future Party as a centrist party that is seeking the support of those disgruntled with the other major parties in Canada.

“I just bought a membership and they made me interim president because I had a little bit of experience in politics,” Dayman said. “I was media president for the Conservatives, and so they named me an interim president till we hold our AGM and we elect one.”
