Walk For Alzheimer’s, Town-wide Garage Sale this weekend

It’s going to be a busy Saturday in Moosomin with both the Walk For Alzheimer’s and Town-wide Garage Sale set for this Saturday, May 30.

Walk for Alzheimer’s
The Walk for Alheimer’s will begin at the Legion on Main Street at 11 am. Walkers can register online or show up an hour earlier at 10 am Saturday to register.

The walk is two miles, and will go down Broadway west, down Broadway to Cook Road, and then back up Windover. Walkers can register online ahead of time or ahead of the walk at 10 am.

There will also be a Wellness Expo that day with different local businesses providing resources and advice on how to age well.
After the walk there will be a hot dog barbecue at noon.

The walk saw over 100 walkers last year and organizers are hoping for at least 100 people again this year.

An anonymous donor has offered to match all proceeds up to $50,000 for the Walk for Alzheimer’s in Moosomin this year.

Town-wide Garage Sale
The Town-wide Garage Sale will also take place on Saturday, May 30 from 9 am to 4 pm that day.

Organizers are also planning a mystery prize feature to encourage residents to visit multiple garage sales throughout the day. A few participating sales will have hidden prizes or small giveaways supplied through Moosomin Economic Development.

Residents who would like their sale included on the official map and list of sales that day are encouraged to register with Assistant Rec Director Angela Thorn at the town office. Maps will be printed and made available ahead of the sale. Last week Thorn said 23 sales had registered for the event so far.
