Norma Marion McDonald (nee Perasalo), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 84 years.

Norma was born on July 25, 1940, the youngest child of Walter and Ida (nee Knuttila) Perasalo in New Finland, Sask. Norma began her schooling at Convent Creek School and completed her grade twelve in Wapella. After graduation, she moved to Regina where she began her career in banking. While living in Regina she met and then married Rae McDonald. Their life took them to many places with the military, Moose Jaw, Zweibruken, Germany, Portage la Prairie, Cold Lake, Winnipeg, back to Cold Lake, and then they retired in Regina. In 2023, Norma moved to Calgary to be closer to her family.

Norma will be missed and remembered by her daughters, Shelley (Cam) Ramsey, Lynn (Scott) Kiser, and Debra McDonald; grandchildren, Craig, Lyndsey (Gordon), Alex (Stephanie) and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Halle, Heston, Madeleine, Katherine, Thomas, and William; sisters-in-law, Mary Perasalo and Ruth McDonald; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norma was predeceased by her husband Rae, parents, sister Ivy (Hugh), brothers Clifford, Melvin, Arnold, and Harley (Helen); parents-in-law Jim and Thelma; brothers-in-law Sandy, Ross, George and Ralph; and her grandson Marty.

A private service will be held.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
