In support of helping the facility’s mezzanine project, the RM of Moosomin donated $25,000 to Moosomin Conexus Convention Centre (MCC Centre).
“This is our third year of supporting capital projects, we donated $10,000 towards the pool cover, we did $15,000 towards the ball diamonds, and $20,000 for the bathrooms at the communiplex,” said Kendra Lawrence of RM of Moosomin CAO.
She said the RM of Moosomin meets with Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Schwean to discuss which projects are in need of funding.
“We kind of pick which capital projects we can help with and it varies each year,” Lawrence said.
“One other year we donated $2,500 towards the curling rink, and $2,500 to the rodeo committee. We try to spread them all around in the area.”
Chair of Recreation Committee Murray Gray said the group is thankful for their donation and would not be able to finish the project without it.
The mezzanine project will allow the sound and lights to be controlled from the studio room on the mezzanine level inside the hall of the MCC Centre.
Before, individuals had to bring down their equipment in the hall, in order to control the sound and light production for events.
Schwean said the project is almost finished and is expected to be done soon, after installing shutters to close off the window spaces.
