Fourth person charged in Carry the Kettle murders
67-year-old Lauren Elvis Hotomani from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation is charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder.

RCMP have laid charges against a fourth person one year after the quadruple murder on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation that took the lives of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack. 67-year-old Lauren Elvis Hotomani from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation is charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder.
On February 4, police officers with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit, part of the Major Crimes Branch, and officers from File Hills First Nations Police Service arrested Hotomani. Hotomani is scheduled to appear in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on February 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
“Over the past 12 months, investigators ensured every lead was chased down and all avenues were explored, as they do with every file they take on,” says Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, Senior Investigative Officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch.
“The persistence and skill of our investigators drove this case forward.
Ultimately, their commitment to meticulous investigative work allowed us to piece together the circumstances surrounding this case and give the victims’ families some answers.”
On February 4, 2025, at 11:15 a.m., File Hills First Nations Police Service received a report of sudden deaths at a residence on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
Officers immediately responded. They located four deceased persons in the residence. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation and investigated the deaths as homicides.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes located and arrested 18-year-old Darrius Racette in Yorkton, SK on February 18, 2025. A 15-year-old male youth was arrested by Saskatchewan RCMP on February 18, 2025, on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, SK. Darrius Racette and the male youth were each charged with four counts of first-degree murder in relation to the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack.
On December 10, 2025, police officers with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit and Indian Head RCMP Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation with the assistance of officers from File Hills First Nations Police Service. RCMP officers arrested a 17-year-old male youth at the residence. The youth was charged with four counts of first-degree murder in relation to the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack. The youth is also charged with one count, attempted murder. Investigation determined an altercation occurred between the youth and a fifth individual at the residence.
File Hills First Nations Police Service, Regina Police Services and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit (formerly known as the General Investigation Section), Forensic Identification Services, Historical Case Unit, Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams, Indigenous Policing Services, and local RCMP detachments all assisted with the investigation.
