William (Bill) James Moffatt, born April 10, 1935, passed away peacefully at home in his 91st year on March 1, 2026. Bill lived most of his life in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, where he built a life centred around family, hard work, and community.
Bill married the love of his life, June Mudd, on October 4, 1958. Together they built a large and loving family. He was a proud father to six children: Colleen (Rob), Richard (Nola), Brad (Darla), Darren (Liz), Patricia, and Darcy (Christie).
He was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to Krista (Brooklyn, Jayda, Owen), Lisa (Jamie) (Georgia, Alexandre, Jane), Byron (Sam) (Lucas, Emma), Drew (Emma) (Isabella), Colin (Jessica) (Layne), Isaac (Briana) (Halla, Kaiden), Amy (Tristan) (Nevada), Kristjan and Mitchell.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Vera and Andrew Moffatt as well as his brothers John, Gary, Ivan and one grandson, Mitchell Craig.
Bill believed strongly in hard work. At the age of 16 he began working in road construction, and in 1963 he began working at TransCanada Pipeline Station 25. It was a job he truly enjoyed, where he met many wonderful people throughout the years. Bill worked there for decades before retiring in 2000.
Outside of work, Bill had many passions. He loved music and especially enjoyed playing the guitar, violin and piano, always by ear, he could never read music. Music was something he loved sharing with his family, especially when playing for his great-grandchildren and encouraging them to sing along.
Bill also loved hunting and fishing and spent many cherished hours outdoors, often bringing his sons along. Curling, especially bonspiels and golfing, were other favourite pastimes.
He was known for barbecuing a good meal, sitting around with family and friends with a drink in hand, telling stories, and making people laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humour and an excellent memory, and he loved sharing stories from years gone by.
In his later years his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved reading to them, playing music for them, and watching them grow.
Bill was incredibly proud of the family he helped build. The legacy he leaves behind is not only in the stories he told or the music he played, but in the strong loving family he leaves behind. His presence, laughter and steady guidance will be missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will live on through every generation that follows.
Bill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
